Daina Warren Receives the 2015 Emily Award
Congratulations to Daina Warren on her 2015 Emily Award, presented annually to Emily Carr alumni for outstanding achievements in the arts, media and design. She was presented the award in Vancouver, BC on May 2, 2015.
Daina is a rising star among Canadian curators. A member of the Akamihk Cree Nation in Maskwacis Alberta, Daina graduated from Emily Carr in 2003. Her remarkable work as a curator led to two fellowship awards from the Canada Council, and in 2012 she earned a Master’s in Art History from UBC. She has distinguished herself through roles at grunt gallery and at the National Gallery of Canada where she curated an innovative exhibition called Don’t Stop Me Now. Daina continues her remarkable career as the Director of Urban Shaman: Contemporary Aboriginal Art in Winnipeg where she is a dedicated advocate and champion for Contemporary Aboriginal Art.
